Here at Clayborne, we have a well-developed community outreach initiative. Our motivation for this community outreach is simple; we hope to reach those students who would not otherwise be able to afford our services. There are many programs that have come to fruition because of this initiative. One of our newest and most exciting community outreach efforts is our Refugee Fund 2016. Clayborne has been conducting a fundraiser to provide the resources needed to offer free test prep to a refugee student in the Charlottesville community. Please click on the Refugee Fund 2016 link above or navigate to the page using the menu on the left to learn more.

In addition to our Refugee Fund 2016, here are the rest of all the efforts we have in the works:

  • Free refresher classes. For every student who attends a refresher class, we can offer up to two free spots to each of the high schools in the area.
  • Discounted tutoring and test prep. We offer a limited number of discounted and/or test prep services for those who qualify.  We are fortunate to be able to offer services on a sliding fee scale. Contact to see how we can be of assistance to you!
  • A free ACT Test Prep Class. Starting in late March, Clayborne will be teaching an 8-week free ACT Test Prep class held at the Boys & Girls Club of Charlottesville, primarily focused on serving high school sophomores and juniors in need of ACT help.
  • Free one-to-one ACT test prep. Currently, Lee and Scott are each tutoring a high school junior from Charlottesville High School, free of charge. These relationships will exist until the student is satisfied with their ACT official score. This is a new pro bono effort that Clayborne is very excited about.
  • Clayborne also has some new partnerships in the works.
    • We're partnering with The Farm House, a local hub for artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders in Charlottesville. The partnership with The Farm House is multi-faceted, from casting vision for our community outreach, to having Farm House artists post their work on our walls.
    • We're also partnering with Trinity Presbyterian Church to serve those in need of financial assistance. We are very excited to continue providing education to the refugee population of Charlottesville.
